NORTHERN CIRCUIT ROUTE 9 Days 8 Nights

This is the longest route up the mountain. It starts from the west to north then east to south. It is good for acclimatization and its gradual ascent via Lemosho route will help you.

DAY 1
After breakfast drive to Londrosi gate at 2250 m for registration and payment. Then drive to the starting point of Lemosho route at 2200 m. You walk through Montane Forest for 2.5-3 hours to Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp) at 2600 m. Stay overnight.
DAY 2
After breakfast you hike out of Montane Forest to Heather then Moorland for 6 hours to Shira I Camp at 3500 m. Spectacular views: Kibo peak, Shira Needle, Mt. Meru and Shira Plateau. Stay overnight.
DAY 3
After breakfast you hike through moorland that is a little bit flat because you walk in the Shira Plateau. It will take you 4 hours to Shira II Camp at 3850 m. Spectacular views: Kibo peak, Shira Cathedral, Shira Needle, Mt. Meru and Shira Plateau. Stay overnight.
DAY 4
After breakfast hike through moorland then Alpine Desert for 4 hours to Moir Hut camp at 4200 m. Stay overnight.
DAY 5
After breakfast you continue hiking through Alpine Desert for 7-8 hours to Pofu Camp (Buffalo Camp) at 4000 m. Stay overnight.
DAY 6
After breakfast you hike through the desert for 6 hours down moorland to Third Cave Camp at 3800 m. Stay overnight.
DAY 7
After breakfast ascend out of the moorland then Alpine Desert for 4 hours to Kibo Hut at 4700 m. Spectacular views of Mawenzi, Kibo Peaks and Saddle parasitic cones. This is the base camp where you rest and prepare for summit ascent.
DAY 8
In the middle of the night, you start to climb to the summit. This will take you 6 hours to the rim Gilman’s Point at 5600 m,  walking along the rim to Stella Point at 5700 m. also rim point. From there continue walking along the rim’s edge for 1 hour to the summit at 5895 m. Here is the Roof of Africa. After taking pictures you descend back to Kibo Hut for 3 hours and rest there. After lunch continue descending for another 5 hours to High Camp at 3700 m Stay overnight.
DAY 9
After breakfast you hike down through Montane Forest for 3 hours to Mweka gate at 1600 m. Here at the gate you sign out and then drive back to Moshi town for 30 minutes.

          
             MOUNTAIN CLIMBING PRICE


The price depends on the route and number of days.
The price will include:
•Transportation from and to the Kilimanjaro International Airport
•Accommodations one night before and after the mountain
•Transport to and from the mountain gate
•Food on the mountain
•Salaries for the crew
•All Park Fees
The price will not include:
•Any cost concerning flights and other related fees
•Tips for the climbing crew
•Personal climbing gears

TIPPING
Tipping is very important. It is due to degree of appreciation of work done. The following is just indicator. Sometimes they get more than that, but not less than that.

2.Assistant guide= $ 15-20 per day
3.Cook= $ 15 per day
4.Porter= $ 10 per day
DAY TRIPS

•Cook= $ 25 per day (Cook will be available only for camping safari)
